Aetherites decode the natural and the supernatural through the use of experimentation, imagination and observation. They don't shut out any idea, they don't hand-wave the odd or the abnormal, the strange or the unusual, the impossible. They seek these things out to prove them to be truth.  Aetherites consider what they do to be True Science, considers themselves to be Scientists Supreme. They have mastery over the undreamt, over matter and life. They're the architects of the impossible.

Aetherites subscribe to the idea that True Science is an art, an expression of freedom, creation and imagination. And each Atherite has their own personal story and theory, their own inspiration that has driven them to create Science from their magic

All Aetherites can claim the title of 'Doctor', though not all Aetherites have obtained the credential through ordinary means.

The Aetherites hold that reality is in a constant state of flux, and that as this occurs opposing metaphysical forces are constantly destroying each other and then recombining into new and uncatalogued phenomena. Perception, for Scientists, defines the universe and each Scientist builds their own perception of reality. They pose and create theorem about how reality functions, and take these theories to create, build and design inventions. Give them a Spark of the power that they've tapped into.  Aetherites can control and manipulate the universe in ways that others can't always comprehend.
